Don't Know How to Start Your Journey? {Here's How!}

A lot of people have reached out to me during my journey and asked me how I started. When thinking about how to love yourself, it's quite difficult to know how to begin. To be honest, there's no right or wrong answer here! It's all about changing your mindset. Here are some tips I have for starting your journey!

*Meditate!*

Meditating can really get you in touch with yourself and every inch of your body. I try to meditate as much as I can. Light a candle, sit on the floor of your room {or wherever you feel most comfortable}, find a meditation song on Spotify or YouTube, and just relax. It. Is. Amazing.

*Journal*

Journaling has been so important in this journey for me. If i'm having a good day, I write about it. If I'm having a bad day, I write about it. I stay in touch with my body by writing about how I'm feeling, and also what I'm eating. Writing down what I eat has really opened my eyes to my own habits which has been paramount for my learning.

*DO YOGA*

I have to be honest with you, I am obsessed with yoga. I think it is one of the most amazing ways to get in tune with yourself and your breath. Yoga is the only time where I think about absolutely nothing. I focus on my body and what my body needs, listening to it in any way I can. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

*Body Positive Language*

AKA - ENOUGH with the fat talk!!! The word {fat} should be removed from your vocabulary IMMEDIATELY. Don't use it when referring to yourself, or other people. This also means when you look in the mirror, DO NOT say anything negative about your body. It is easy to look in the mirror and pick out every part of your body you hate. Instead, look in the mirror and say what you LOVE about yourself, whether that be inner or outter qualities.

*Put Things Into Your Body That Make You Feel Good*

This one is a big one for me. Changing my relationship with food was key for my happiness. When you fill your body with food that is processed or full of sugar, you will not feel good. Putting good food into your body is KEY. Minimal ingredients, fresh foods, etc. Not only this, but not using food as an escape when you don't feel good. If someone upset you, your boyfriend dumped you, you got a bad grade on a test, do not look to food for comfort {trust me I've tried, it doesn't work}. Find something that makes you happy, and use this as a way to escape when you are feeling emotional {working out, meditation, yoga, dancing, singing, ANYTHING!}

Starting this journey was not easy for me by any means. It took a long time for me to get to the place I am in now. If you aren't ready, that is OK! These are just a few ways you can begin this journey whenever you decide you are ready!
